I guess my posts while in Chicago were exceptionally light, seeing that neglected to post anything at all. I had full intentions of doing so. Even considered scheduling out some posts and had been tagged for a couple of memes. But I kept running out of time: I had to work Wednesday night and Thursday morning, and we flew out Thursday afternoon. Our flight was a bit delayed, and by the time we got to my mom’s and fed the kids and got them ready for bed and stuff, we were exhausted, too. Lather, rinse and repeat for the entire weekend (well, except the working thing).
We spent so much time visiting with family and friends and had so much fun doing so, that I think I only checked my email for a few brief minutes all weekend. It was great! I hadn’t seen my eldest brother and nephew in 4-1/2 years (which meant neither of my children had seen them), and Gavin and my nephew got along great (which was good since we were all staying at my parents’ house).
On Saturday we had (if we counted correctly) about 45 people in my parents’ home. Justin’s parents and our youngest nephew came by for a couple hours, most of my aunts and uncles stopped by, a ton of cousins, and even my great aunt, one of my all-time most favorite people, came over a for a while. By the way, a quick warning to all my Kabelis relatives…Aunt Dee is gonna hit ya with a good guilt trip for not showing up. I would too, except I don’t have anywhere near as much clout as her.
Sunday was Meghan’s christening, where Justin and I became godparents again. It was a great honor to be chosen to act as additional guides for Meghan’s walk through life. I just wish we lived closer so that we could be more involved in hers, and her siblings’ lives.
I will be posting more pics that I steal from Justin in the next few days. I’m sure there are more of me looking like an idiot, so if that doesn’t keep you coming back, I’m not sure what will!

Well, aren’t you people a sharp looking group! Congratulations on your latest honor! I love visiting with family, especially when it’s been forever since you’ve seen them. Mither and Pop are here visiting us right now and are going to leave tomorrow to go back home. We’ve had a great time, though! I’m glad you did, too!
I love the christening gown!
Hope you enjoyed our cold windy weather while you were here. Frost this morning, but sixties by Thursday. I am so looking forward to winter… NOT!
By the way, you all look very lovely, congratulations to you and Justin, God parents extraordinaire! 🙂
she has such large feet for such a little baby!
no, seriously – it’s the angle of picture …oh, those are your feet! Haha.
It looks as though you all had a wonderful time – and hope you got to have some wine, please.
Great photo – glad you had a wonderful (and RELAXING!) time!
I’m hoping I end up getting to be the godmother to my soon-to-debut niece.
Great picture! Glad you had a super time!
Sounds like a lot of fun! Glad it was a safe and good trip. Can’t wait to hear and see more.
BTW, I’m trying to plan another DC Area meet up. Come by and let me know if you can make it.
I like how you’re basically holding them all down in that photo so that they can’t wander off. Hawt!
[…] with this trip, we might be able to high-tail it out of here to visit my family to celebrate our goddaughter, Meghan’s, first birthday. We hope. I’m still crossing my fingers cuz it will be a very […]
