Trying to Figure Out How This Happened

stoneware-fail_2009-02-21

I bought this Pampered Chef deep-dish mini-baker about 4 years ago…maybe 5. Used it a hundred times to make breakfast casserole and was considering making it this morning. Until it broke in the oven while baking my salmon last night. Not sure what happened…checked the salmon about two minutes prior and all seemed to be fine. But at least I was able to verify my fish was finished!

And now I’m not quite sure what to do with is since I seemed to have kept every Pampered Chef receipt EXCEPT for this one. Do I clean it up and mail it to them with a WTH note? Do I put it in the garbage? Or maybe the recycling bin since it’s stone and all-natural and what-not?

Well, the kids weren’t too upset about it…this morning they got mini-blueberry muffins instead (yeah Jiffy!).

This is a blog where I will share my adventures and mundane tasks as a work-out-of-home-mom. I now have 2 kids and my wonderful husband, so the juggling has gotten a little bit more tricky (man-on-man defense). We also have 2 dogs and 3 cats (we used to have 4) so as you can imagine, our household is pretty busy. Since I never feel like I'm being listened to, I figured I'll just start talking at the general Internet community and see what happens.

I had a flat rectangle stone from Pampered Chef that did the same thing this past summer. Mine was literally black and had been used constantly for about 9-10 years. I don’t know what caused it, but just as the buzzer went off I heard a loud pop. Mine cracked into about 5 pieces. I think I remember that they have like a 3 yr warranty (something like that) so I had to buy a new one. I am working on getting it seasoned to a nice black again!

That Pampered Chef stuff is expensive, too! We have a pizza stone thing that I insist on using to make cookies as well as pizza. It’s great, but I remember it being kinda high dollar.

Now I guess we have something to look forward to since ours is about five years old. 🙁

I’d check with Pampered Chef, you never know they might just replace it, but I think that Valerie is correct on the warranty.

Pampered Chef stoneware has a 3 year warranty. I am sorry to see that yours broke. Since it has been over 3 years since you bought it you can’t get it replaced for free, SORRY. It is strange that it broke like that, I’ve never had a problem with mine. Did you have it in the fridge before you put it in the oven? If so then then stone had temperature shock and that’s why it broke.
