On Saturday, my MIL and the kids and I headed out to our friends, Brian and Kathy’s, place for dinner. Kathy made a stellar dinner (I should’ve snuck some leftovers….it was good!), Brian got to find out what a wuss I am about martinis, and the kids played together wonderfully. No fighting, no fussing, and I suspect a little 4-year old romance might’ve sparked between Gavin and Brynn. Or at least with Brynn for Gavin.
As I was finally realizing we’d need to leave before Cooper had a complete meltdown, we saw it was snowing outside! I think I was more excited than the kids! Jean, my MIL, looked as though she wanted to puke (she lives in north-central Indiana…think lots and LOTS of lake-effect snow aaaaallllll winter long)…it was kind of funny.
So we drove the hour home, and shockingly, we had snow at home, too! It snowed lightly all night and we had a good half-inch in the morning, which melted shortly after lunch. I think I was more upset than the kids. Sunday night, however, it started lightly snowing and I sat up watching the flakes fall for way.too.long.
Yesterday, I woke up, glanced out the window and could not see the neighbor kitty-corner from us (or is it catty-corner?), and gleefully called the daycare to find out that they weren’t sure how much longer they’d stay open, which meant a snow day at home!!! WEEEEE!!!
When I chucked the dogs out the back door, we already had 4 or 5 inches on the ground. After working a few hours, Jean and I bundled up the kids and chucked them into the 6 or 7 inches of snow we ended up with. And I’ll just let Jean’s pictures tell the rest of the story (can I just add how stunned I was that we got Cooper to walk in the snow? He’s been afraid of it all winter).

Getting bundled up.

No, I did not push him down (this time)...he\'s making his first snow angel without any coaxing from me. I'm so proud! *sniff*

Cooper watches the snow war between Gavin (chucking big snowballs) and Mommy (chucking shovelfuls of snow)

stomping through the snow on the porch

smashed both kids onto the baby sled--don't they look like they're having fun?

see? all smiles!

I'm telling them to suck it up after 40-mph winds blast snow in their faces--how else are they going to become championship sledders?

Gavin did the same thing the last time we had snow and started a snowball fight. It was funny using reverse logic to get him to throw it at me… “Don’t you do that… don’t you… OH! I’m going to get you!”.
I love your hat! 🙂
I gave you an award…check it out!
